Growing wildfire risk is due to past fire exclusion and accumulating fuels, a warming climate, and expanding development in the wildland-urban interface. Impacts have far-reaching effects on human health, the economy, community well-being, and the environment, including to areas important for water, carbon, and wildlife. This is a national emergency, and it calls for decisive action.
